New Orleans - Day 2

We fueled up for our first full day of sightseeing with beignets from Cafe Beignet (just a few doors down from our hotel). Delicious!

Yum!

After breakfast, we made our way back towards Jackson Square and then meandered through the open air French Market. We decided a carriage ride through the French Quarter and out to St. Louis cemetery (where the voodoo priestess, Marie Laveau is believed to be buried) would be interesting. Our tour guide showed us all of the sights and even pointed out the pyramid shaped tomb that Nicholas Cage has selected as his final resting place.

Next, we took the St. Charles streetcar out to the Garden District. We decided to do a self-guided tour which was cut short when it started to rain. We finished up the day people watching back on Bourbon Street.
